TN: '11 Turley Zin Grist vs. '11 Bedrock Zin Rowe

Opened these this past week:

2011 Turley Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley Grist Vineyard (15.1% abv)

Dark red color. Not too aromatic - hints of blackberry fruit, blackberry vine, and underbrush. On the restrained side of full bodied, with enjoyable dark berry flavors that came across as fairly sleek and restrained. Flavorful. Moderately tannic+, with just a hint of rusticity; long finish. Overall, a very nice showing - struck me as classic DCV zin. Especially liked the fruit in combination with the (balanced but noticeable) tannins. Drink or hold.

2011 Bedrock Wine Co. Zinfandel Sonoma Valley Rowe Vineyard

Medium/dark red color. Aromas of red and black berries. Medium bodied, vibrant but balanced acidity, with flavors skewing more towards red berry than, e.g., blackberry. (Interestingly, noticed a bit of cranberry.) Ripe and flavorful but slightly on the cool/restrained side; very good balance overall. Medium finish. Overall, very enjoyable; drink now.

Just now seeing this.

The Rowe Vineyard Zinfandel sounds great! I wonder where in the Sonoma Valley this site falls, as I think there are warmer and colder spots along the appellation…
