TN: 2001 Chateau Montrose

Do not disturb. Back away from the wine, and everything will be ok.

Come back in 6-10 years. Tough stuff. Showed like a clenched fist.

I think the only Montrose I’ve ever drunk that was truly ready was the 1955. Thanks for the note and reminder to leave these kids alone.

Lol. This Chateau is Beast. I love it.

I have six of these laid down for my daughter who has an '01 birth year. I like hearing that it will be long lived…thanks.

The 1970 Montrose is still quite good.

We had a 2001 Montrose last year which while very young was still enjoyable. May be we got lucky.

I enjoyed the 2001 Montrose a few years ago - young, but not tough. Showing a lot, just not developed.

And, the 1989 and 1990 Montroses I had about a year and a half ago seemed quite good.

It doesn’t surprise me this one is closed for business. This and Gruaud Larose can be real ugly ducklings in their first 20 years.

Other 2001’s are drinking really well at the moment though. Langoa and Leoville Barton spring to mind. Batailley is currently very enjoyable aswell.

Had a few bottles in 2010 that were outstanding. Wish I had bought more.
