TN: 2012 Tercero Grenache Blanc

I love trying wine made by frequent posters on the board. I like it even more when the wine is great. This was a real knockout.

I can see the riesling comparison. On pop-and-pour, this had a real quinine quality, almost like sipping an acidic gin and tonic. Medium body, despite the pale straw color. The fruit kept a clear lime quality over the course of the next four days. I did get some petrol, and really loved the density without sweetness that good dry rieslings have. A really delicious bottle of wine, looking forward to trying one with some age on it.

I’ve had the 06 and the 09 Tercero Grenache Blanc within the last few months, and the wines really do seem to age well. Not just hold up, but actually develop and mature. And they develop interestingly after opening through the evening or over a few days as well.

Though I also had a 2013 the other day, and it’s great in its youth as well.
