TN: 2007 Cabot Vineyards Klamath Cuvée

  • 2007 Cabot Vineyards Klamath Cuvée - USA, California, North Coast, Humboldt County (3/27/2015)
Inky dark purple with brambles and oak nose. Drying tannins with tart fruit, under ripe blackberries and acid dominate on the PnP. Needs a decant, improves with food. Night two, acid dominate with whole cluster tannins bracketing the fruit. Definitely a food wine and needs a strong complementary food to bring out the best. 89 on it’s own, up a couple with food. (91 pts.)

Going well on night 4 after a one day respite, cedar on the nose, whole cluster tannins balancing the acid nicely along with medium fruit. Definitely improves with time, good future if you have any left. Showing best tonight.

Thanks for the note and update! I only have one 2007 left; good to know there’s probably no rush. I have a few 2008s - they were (are?) $10-$12 in a couple of the stores in Arcata. I probably drank about 2 cases of that one when I lived there for a year (maybe this belongs in the “steals” thread…)
