Intermezzo
11. 2009 E Schönleber Auf der Lay Magnum Oily concentrated. Will improve dramatically wit age IMO
12. 2011 E Schönleber Auf der Lay Magnum Much more focussed
13. 2013 E Schönleber Auf der Lay Magnum Just fatastic. More Frühlingsplätchen than Halenberg

With Sushi
14. 1959 Peter-Meyer-Horne Ürziger Schwarzlay naturrein Actually a very fine Riesling from before VDP was born. A special experienced and actually quite good.
15. 1975 Willi Willems-Martin Brauneberger Juffer, Riesling Auslese rather anonymous
16. 1988 Weingut von Hövel Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett Flawed
17. 1990 Weingut von Hövel Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese Fantastic wine. The terroir penetrates
18. 1994 J. J. Prüm,Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Riesling Spätlese, Great Spätlese, just behind the 1996
19. 1996 J. J. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Riesling Spätlese, This wine continue to impress. Fantastic wine. Prüm rules and this wine rocks. Will age for further decades
20. 1975 Otto Dünweg Neumagener Rosengärtchen, Riesling Auslese, A rather elegant and delicious wine from a not so known wineyard

Intermezzo
24. 1988 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cazetiers Typical 88 acid and backbone. A great wine
25. 2010 Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cazetiers will be a great Cazetiers in a couple of decades
26. 1993 Chevillon NSG Vaucrains My Bourgogne of the evening. So balanced, pure and delicious. So Vaucrains. Wish I had more
27. 1998 Grivot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts A bit dry and unyielding, but just at bit
28. 2000 Grivot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts Very lush and with fine spice. Beaux Mont is great

With Veal Entrecote, celery and sauce Béarnaise
29. 1978 Roche di Manzoni Barolo Riserva Still youngish. Fine showing
30. 1983 G Conterno Cascina Francia. I found this wine intriquing. I am sure that if the wine had more time it would be much better. This is the disadvantage with many tasters
31. 1990 Giacosa Villero The next best Barolo
32. 1990 Giacosa Giacosa Falletto Riserva Wow. WOW. A fantastic wine. Young and sweet and deep. Wish I had some (the 2 Giacosas were brought by Morten, thanx)

Intermezzo

34. 1988 Queciabella Chianti Classico Riserva TCA
35. 1997 Clape Cornas. Fully mature and delicious.
36. 1996 Clape Cornas Even better. Cornas is underrated

With mature Comté
37. 1996 Boyer-Martenot, Meursault L´Ormeau. Fresh, pure lean and delicious. Great village
38. 1996 Boyer-Martenot, Meursault Les Tillets Just not quite as good as the L´Ormeau, but still a fine Meursault

Excellent. Thanks.

What a splendid day, Claus! TAK

My favorite 3 wines:

1990 Giacosa Falletto Riserva
1993 Chevillon NSG Vaucrains
2011 E Schönleber Auf der Lay Magnum

That’s a great set of wines & quite a lineup for lunch. Winston Churchill would be proud…

Well a couple of flawed bottles an many bottles not emptied. (Alas no Barolo)
And the prohibitively low ABV of those Mosel wines.
That spoiled it for us. Churchill is a roll model

It is now 8 days after the bottles were opened and the Auf der Lay taste just fantastic.
the 2009 has lost the fat oiliness and appears elegant and balanced.
the 2011 id in a sweet spot now
the 2013 was best last saturday IMO but seems more thin now.
It was a first acquiantance with AdL but what a wine!
If anyone is in doubt about the origins etc of the wine, I am sure more knowledgeably gents than me can elaborate.
