'93 Gerard Chavy?

Took a very cheap flyer on a 1993 Gerard Chavy Puligny Montrachet Folatieres. What are the odds this is DOA?

Well - I suppose you mean Dead Or Alive …

Good odds that it is alive, if well stored and shipped. Good vineyard, good producer, not a great vintage, but the 93s have quite high acidity … that should have kept it sound.

Should therfore be at least good … if not really outstanding.

Thanks for the response Gerhard. By, DOA I meant dead on arrival. Unfortunately I was correct. Opened yesterday, totally oxidized and dead. Oh well, was worth a shot.

Sorry for you … with these aged bottles you never know how it has been treated … but it is often worth the risk if not very pricy.
I don´t think it was dead due to initially bad wine, rather something happend from the cellar door to yours - I had very good white 93 Burgs … in fact most were at least good when the bottle looked sound.
