TN: sh!t wine

2011 Domaine Bouard-Bonnefoy Chassagne-Montrachet 1er - Les Chenevottes: This is quite a racy expression of Chardonnay. The oak is minimally invasive with an emphasis on freshness, acidity, and purity. The nose here offers up a tight assemblage of lemon drops, green melon, oil, beeswax, and chalk. On the palate, the minerals are so chalky that they are bordering on salty. This impressive mineral edge is perfectly complimented with a salient honeydew note. In fact, I actually went out to buy a honeydew to compliment the wine after my initial taste. This enters the palate on the sharp side, yet fully resolves itself when the honeydew and beeswax fan out on the finish. 91 pts.

So, despite the title, you liked it?

Yeah, it was quite enjoyable. Nothing that blew me away, but decent QPR in my opinion.

Thought it would be a northern Rhone…

i thought it would be a troll post and i was right. weird.

It was a quote from a fellow board member. They had claimed I bought “sh!t wine”. Naturally, I wanted to see what “sh!t wine” tasted like.

Beaucastel is Southern Rhone.

Thought for a sec this was gonna be a thread about 2007 OR Pinot…

This is the label I was expecting to see when opening this thread:

Alain

I clicked on this thread honestly expected a picture of a bottle with Mark’s sh!tter in the background given his propensity for toilet bottle porn.
