TN: 2013 François Chidaine Touraine Rouge

I love Chidaine’s whites and rosé but this was the first time I’ve tried his red. I was very impressed! It’s a blend of 1/3 Cab Franc, 1/3 Cot, 1/3 Pinot d’Aunis.

Bright cherry nose, just a faint hint of green stalkiness. Light to medium bodied with medium acidity. Starts light but firms up with black cherry fruit juice giving way to skins, violets and great minerality. This is lovely and hard to beat for the price. Blind I might guess a village NSG or a cool vintage Morgon. (90 pts.)

I really enjoyed several bottles of the '10, but it showed too much P d’A to be confused with Gamay.

I had a couple of Touraine reds this past week including one that was 2/3 CF and 1/3 Cot. I will have to try and track this one down.
