Another evening of Champagne and Burgundy

Earlier in the month, a 9 of us were graced with the presence of a class wine importer who brought 6 white Burgundy and 9 red Burgundy, all in his portfolio and recently released. To compliment his treasures, we brought Champagne and other Burgundy to “round” out the evening.

This all took place in the new Santa Barbara Funk Zone restaurant, les Marchands, where we were treated to a round of appetizers and 6 small plate courses [see menu].

The Champagne:

NV A.R. LENOBLE BRUT- fun, tasty and easy on the palate; a good starter bubbly.

NV A.R. LENOBLE BRUT ZERO- no dosage; somewhat oxidized.

NV A.R. LENOBLE BRUT ROSE

2004 PIERRE MONCUIT “CUVEE NICOLE MONCUIT VV” BdB Grand Cru- great bubbly

2004 PERRIER JOUET BRUT ROSE- flawed

24 wines…mostly young…wow…way beyond my ability to process and take notes on.

Difficult to tell what you thought of them.

Stuart, this was an atypical post for me. Although I made some specific notes, time and the length of the reviews led to a decision to just capture the general aspect of the evening. If there is any one wine you want more info for, let me know and I`ll fill in the blanks.
