TN: '06 Rousseau Gevery Chambertin Lavaux St Jacques 1er Cru

A 59th birthday wine that did not let us down. I think TZ scored this 86-89pts??? Fine by me as it helped depress the market price a decent amount. Most people are all hung up on the “big 3” / now the “big 4” from Rousseau but I find this wine a very very close 2nd cousin to the Ruchottes and drinking better than the CSJ would at this young age. The CSJ would still be showing a lot of oak right now. This wine delivers all of the marvelous purity of fruit and ethereal structure that is signature for Rousseau. This is not a huge wine but rather very intellectual and intriguing. I quickly bought the last btls today. This is only a minor step down from the Rousseau Grands. Someday the critics will be bold enough to give this wine the scores it deserves. Paid $112 and drinks like $200 plus. Unfortunately this store no longer gets any Rousseau and this was the last they had. PnP
