TN: 2001 Zilliken (Forstmeister Geltz) Saarburger Rausch Riesling Kabinett

Definitely in the zone right now. Medium straw toward gold, bright. Aromas of ripe fruit, some linen, gentle petrol and some lychee notes. The palate is generous, but well lifted; the depth here is just lovely. Creamy, pillowy - I just want to swim in it. LIke a bowlful of orchard fruits, topped with a dozen different exotic spices. Juicy, delicious; I hated to see the bottle empty. In between dry and feinherb at this point. Should hold here for another 5-6 years, but I’m glad I got to see the interplay of fruit and acid at this stage of maturity. Yum. 8,0% abv, highly recommended

Nice, never seen Zilliken up here.

Among my favorite producers, particularly for their Kabinetts & Spatlese. Incredibly consistent. Thanks for the great note.

Love Zilliken. Had a wonderful 1995 Auslese Saturday night.

I’ve seen their wines at Kitsilano Wines in Vancouver.

Thanks John, I have made a note.

I am new to Zilliken thanks to a winex closeout and David Lewin’s recommendation. Delicious!
