We work extremely hard traveling around Europe (so far) to discover winemakers who are committed to their work, care about the environment and make wine that we feel deserves a broader audience. Each wine we import to US comes direct from our producers' cellars based on a relationship we have built face-to-face with these extraordinary craftspeople. We have had the honor to get to know them, their families and their friends, to eat at their lunch and dinner tables, and of course, to drink their amazing wines. To us this is so much more that a "direct-import" model. We aren't merely calling brokers or suppliers, writing checks and putting wine on boats. We are building friendships. We like to think we have a DFFI business model, aka Direct From Friends Import business model.
Once we establish these incredibly valuable producer friendships, we intend to do everything we can to build on them. We don’t forge our relationships because we think someone or something is trendy or appears on somebody’s must-have list. Instead, it’s because they are doing great work and we think they’ll continue to do great things. Every wine we offer meets our own criteria for excellence. We want wines of purity, sense of place and great taste. Each and every wine we buy is one that we enjoy drinking and if we can get enough, proudly put in our own cellars. We are confident you’ll also be proud to share these exceptional wines with family and friends.
While today our producers may not be household names in the U.S., we believe each of them is doing what it takes to be a benchmark producer in their region. That’s a big part of why we’re working with them. But we also really like who they are as people and that is extremely important to us.
